Philips RQ1095 ARCitec Rotary Shaver review January 7, 2008 Mr. Harit Redif (England) 38 out of 40 found this review helpful
Hopefully, this view/opinion of this product will be of some use to someone. I have very course/thick hair so wet shaving is out for me, no matter how soft, soaped and soaked my chin is and how new and sharp the razor is, this is a painful experience. I,ve had a few rechargeable/mains+ shavers in the past including Hitachi, Braun and philips. My last 'good' shaver was a philips 925 three head rotary, bought about ,. . er... 15 ish years ago! it was always ok but not spectacular (it would jam sometimes..ouch! ) So I thought maybe I,d treat myself, although £230 seemed like BIG money for a shaver (925 cost over £100 back then!!) with a bit of searching I found it on amazon for £156 + free postage. What's it like? Shaving with it is a bit like moving a piece of smooth metal over your face, it's the easiest shave I've ever had. It's definitely the closest, just keep smoothing away, this is a very close shave !!! So far I haven't used the big automatic cleaner it comes with but I guess I will sometimes, after a shave just run the shave heads under a hot tap and leave open (they hinge open for this purpose) to dry. One more VERY important thing, finally, , , FINALLY they have got rid of the old nicad rechargeable batteries and are using lithium ion!! I know some people have problems with batteries but speak as I find in all of the gadgets I've had (ipods many, phones a few, cameras etc.) I find that if you charge the battery, use 80-90% then recharge. My batts have lasted excellently. Another point worth mentioning is, you can't use this shaver plugged into the mains, as it sits in it's dock/pod/charger, then you plug this into the power to charge it up. ( don't know if that's good or bad,but it is always a cordless shaver!) To round this up I only shave 3-4 times a week + once a week wet shave my neck as well, ( this is different hair, on me anyway! ) brilliant shaver, very pleased . Recommended.
This is the best shaver ever October 21, 2007 David Bennett (Leeds) 120 out of 131 found this review helpful
I bought this for a whopping £250 in the hope that it would finally sort out the issue which i've always had which is to remove hair from my neck area without leaving unsightly red marks. It has special shaving heads which pivot in every direction to get a really close shave - apparently. I wasn't disappointed. The hype was definitely justified. There were 4 in the range to choose from and this is the top one as it comes with a clean and recharge unit which ensures that it's always ready for me to use and in tip top condition - cleaned and hygienic and fully charged. I certainly think this feature is worth the extra money I paid. I like the finer things in life and this was a bit of an extravagance but as a treat to myself it was well worth the money. The confidence it gives me due to not leaving my face in pieces is worth every penny. It's by far the closest electric shave i've ever had. I would recommend this to everyone looking for a new shaver.
FAB Shave February 17, 2010 Mr. P. Spenceley (Medway, Kent) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My wife brought me this razor for Christmas and I've waited until now to give a review.
I used to use a Philips top draw razor that was about 10 years old, and finish off with a Mach 3.
Now I get a shave as good or better than the Mach 3.
I clean it with the jet clean once a week, and leave the liquid to settle and decant back most of the fluid, only throwing a little away each week.
Fab shave and a fantastic looking razor.

Excellent purchase. Meets all expectancies and worth the detailed research involved in determining how, in actual practice, the extra cost justified the claimed mark up in performance levels. Easy to handle, easy to clean even in running hot water without using the special cleaning device and a much more efficient trimming device than my previous Philips model. The flexible heads clearly make more efficient contact with the varied contours of face and neck areas. Good visual readout of usage/available battery time details.
Better than expecetd February 21, 2009 Agostini-Green (South Wales) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this product purely on the saving I was making and in the belief that something that expensive must be good. I read the other reviews and decided on balance, I was probably better of making up my own mind. I was not dissapointed. Being a member of Her Majesties Armed Forces I shave every day to a high standard using the stealth system of blades. To be blunt, initially I was dissapointed with the result, but I did have over a weeks growth. But with patiance and learning to understand the contours and lines of my face coupled with the way my stubble grows I soon found that I could produce an effect equale to a razer and water - yep smooth as a babies bottom. The only thing... it took a few minutes longer. As for the cleaning system I read in one of the reviews on this site that it took 4 hours, hmm nope 4 minutes, I think that unit was broken! The actual feel and look is awsome, literally boys and there toys as my wife puts it. The charge countdown is accurate to the minute. I would recommend this product, unless of course you suffer from OCD then you'll only be happy when you decide your happy.
